What is Virtual Dave?

"Virtual Dave" is a Remote Assistance Service that allows David Steinlage to troubleshoot technical issues or tutor you on your computer over the Internet while talking with you on the phone. Virtual Dave works on Windows, Mac and Ubuntu/Debian Linux.

What can Virtual Dave be used for?

How do I use Virtual Dave?

Virtual Dave uses a program called TeamViewer QuickSupport to get you started.  Click on the logo for your operating system above to download it and then run it.  Once you've run TeamViewer QuickSupport you'll be presented with a window that looks like this:

QuickSupport will generate a random ID and password each time it is run.  All you have to do now is tell Dave what these are over the phone and he'll be able to connect and begin working with you on your PC.

Is TeamViewer safe and secure?

Yes, very much! All remote sessions are secured with RSA Public/Private authentication and 256-bit AES encryption and sessions can only begin if the tech has been told your randomly generated ID and password (as shown above).  No session can be started without your participation and all sessions can be closed on demand by both sides.

What does Dave charge for a remote assistance session?

All remote sessions are $40 per hour. You will be billed after a successful session has been completed.
