Ubuntu Linux - Frequently Asked Questions
Dual-Boot Installation: $50
In fact, David would be glad to schedule a FREE 1 hour consultation with you to show Ubuntu to you in person. You will get your very own Live CD for free, and an opportunity to try Ubuntu Linux on his HP Pavilion zd7000 laptop with 3D cube and special effects included. You are also given the option to install Ubuntu yourself with your own CD, or allow David to do it for you for just 65$ when you feel you are ready to upgrade. No strings attached. No obligations. You can keep the Live CD/DVD as a free gift to take your time and try Ubuntu out for as long as you want. "Installation" includes installing the Ubuntu Linux Operating System in a dual-boot configuration along side Windows. It also covers Internet and E-mail configuration, mounting NTFS partitions (gives access to files on Windows side), and if you have a capable 3D graphics accelerator, Beryl will be also configured for 3D enhancements. Full Data Migration + Windows Removal: $100 This package is for those who wish to get rid of Windows entirely and recover gigabytes of lost hard drive space. This is ideal for those who are confident they do not wish to use Microsoft Windows anymore. If you are like most people, you use your computer primarily for browsing the Internet (Firefox), Sending/Receiving e-mail (Thunderbird, or a web based service like Yahoo or G-Mail), word processing or spreadsheet work (Open Office.org), Google Earth, and so on. A very large table listing Linux native equivalents to Windows based software can be found here. Included in this package is migration of all personal files from your Windows PC into your Ubuntu Home Folder. Windows will be removed/overwritten in the process of this installation option. If you have a capable 3D graphics accelerator, Beryl will be also configured for 3D enhancements.
